Regarding Ruling Elders

Along with teaching elders, ruling elders are called to ministry with responsibilities in several areas of the life of the church, including exercising leadership, governance, spiritual discernment, and discipline.

 

Regarding Ruling Elder articles for the next few years will explore some of these foundational roles allowing opportunities for reflection, education, exploration, and prayer for those who serve as, and with, ruling elders.

Ruling Elder Luncheon

at the 227th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
June 29, 2026; 12:00-1:30 pm
Milwaukee, WI

 

Join with other ruling elders to explore spiritual practices that can sustain and guide you as you serve. Together, we will reflect on how spiritual grounding shapes decision-making, strengthens courage for prophetic witness, and nurtures joy in the work of governance. In addition to the chance to eat and fellowship together, ruling elders will leave this time with practical tools and shared practices to remain spiritually anchored amid the holy work.
